Fishing. Literally.

We went.
We fished.
We posed.
We fished some more.
Apparently we are great at fishing, not catching.
But either way, Hana is hooked.
Literally.

Gone Fishing: 2nd Attempt

She caught a bunch of leaves and a big branch.
But it was very cold and very windy.
We didn't last an hour. No trout fish for us this weekend!

Gone Fishing

It's that time again! Time for the annual Towne Lake Trout Derby!
There were quite a few people this year.
Hana was super excited to catch, clean and eat "trout fish," as she calls them.
Yes, you read right. She was excited to help clean the fish! (Who is this kid?)
This guy here was a big hit.
The crowd quickly became insane. Can you see all the people? It was literally shoulder to shoulder. Hana was fishing with a bobber and let's just say the trout fish were not interested. The grown ups bottom fishing were catching them all, which we thought was against the rules.
Supposedly this specific area we were at was for ages 5 and under only and only kids 16 and under could fish until noon. After that anyone could. They didn't follow the rules. There were so many adults all around us catching fish left and right.
Hana was very patient for a while, but slowly lost interest. Playing in the water with a stick was more appealing than sitting and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. (She is my daughter!)
But at least she looked super cute sporting her bobber necklace!
After at least a dozen or so tangled and cut lines, we gave up out of frustration and left. As I said, Hana had already lost interest anyway. There were SO MANY people casting here and there and everywhere! It was insane and insanely frustrating, but it was fun!

Valentines

I hope you all have had a Valentine's Day full of love! I thought I would share with you the awesome Valentines Hana and I made for the family. (Hopefully you've all received them by now!) I got the idea off...you guessed it...Pinterest!

Choose 2 colors of paint and help your child make hand prints on heavy paper.
Cut a heart that is just a bit larger than the hand prints, so that it will go around the outside of them. (I drew a heart on thin printer paper so that I could see through it to be sure it was larger than the hand prints and then cut it out. It was by no means perfect.)
Lay the heart on top of the handprints.
Use the heart as a guide to write around the edge of the hand prints in the shape of a heart.
Be creative with what you write and personalize each one. I don't mean to brag, but I'm pleased as punch with the way they turned out. I hope the family liked theirs!

Our Kind of Pizza

Whole grain pizza crust.
A tiny bit of sauce.
Lots of reduced fat cheese.
Lots of onion.
Turkey pepperoni on 3/4 because Hana wants olives and pepperoni and Joe wants pepperoni but no olives.
Black olives on half because I want olives and no pepperoni and, as mentioned above, Hana wants pepperoni and olives.
Bon appetite!

Thank the Shank

Thanks to Aunt Shirshank, Hana got to attend her very first Dallas Mavericks game this past Friday (the 13th). Oh, what a lucky day!
She woke up that morning chanting, "Let's go Mavs! Let's go Mavs!" And asked repeatedly throughout the day how long it was until game time.
This is her sitting on her daddy's shoulders outside of the AAC.
Sweet, we were in a suite!
Oh, the suite life!
Dirk tongue.
The Mavs warming up. Hana spotted Dirk immediately. See him bending over?
Introducing......Your Dallas Mavericks!
She did her best to sing along with the National Anthem. She even corrected me, telling me I was supposed to have my left arm behind my back. I guess that's how they do it at school.  ;-)
The Mavs Dancers. Hana wasn't as excited by them as I thought she would be. She did, however, spend a good amount of time that evening gyrating to the music a little more than she normally does. I think I have them to thank for that.
It was awesome to be in a suite since, when she wasn't gyrating to the music, she was Jetting around with her Dirk toungue out yelling either "We scored a goal!" or "De-fense!"
We won 102-76! Corn dogs, Jackie!
Except, instead of corn dogs like in Semi Pro, they give away coupons for Taco Bueno tacos. Hana was proud to get hers.
And she immediately fell asleep when we got in the car.
What a wonderful night. Thank you, Shrishank!
(Now to convince Joe we need season tickets...)

Christmas Morning
