Working My Magic

This past Easter I bought a ton of cascarones (confetti-filled eggs). The particular ones I bought came with markers, stencils and stickers to use to decorate them. The markers were very petite, just the right size for Hana's hands, so I kept them. I quickly learned (the hard way) that those markers were, indeed, permanent. I have been throwing them away ever since. Just when I think I've rid the house of them, another one sneaks into Hana's hands! Case in point:
Luckily, the only part of our home that has (so far) been attacked with permanent markers is the kitchen table. And lucky for me, I'm not super attached to said table. We purchased it with our house, so while I do really like it, I didn't spend a ton of money on it or hand pick it brand new from a store. Make sense? Anyhow, our table has collected lots of color over the years, mainly in the form of H's, which Hana loves to write anywhere possible. I would be lying if I didn't say I kind of love it, just not the permanent ones. What can I say? I've grown a lot since becoming a parent. I never knew how little permanent marks on a table would bother me! I mean, a little spot here and there is just par for the course in my book. (You should ask my parents about the Santa Clause mural on their bathroom wall. That thing took me years to complete!) But last night when this happened
I wasn't thrilled. Like I said, I can handle a little mark here and there or even an H that has faded from all the scrubbings, but come on! That's a lot of blue for a creamy-beigey-colored, porous, marble table. But, after all...
In case you didn't know. Teehee.  So last night it finally donned on me. I pulled out my trusty bottle of Goo Gone and my old faithful Magic Eraser and went to town!
Yes, that was what was left of the Magic Eraser upon completion. The two combined removed every last bit of permanent ink from my table (As well as some of my new gel nail polish. Next time I should remember to put on a pair of gloves). There were several much older hot pink marks from a Sharpie she managed to get her hands on that I thought were hopeless. But I sprayed my trusty Goo Gone on, let it sit (literally only) a couple seconds and then scrubbed with the Magic Eraser and, well, see for yourself.
I don't think our table even looked this good when we first got it!
