As a lot of you know, Joe is out of the house every other Friday night for a game night. Not too long ago, for some reason, I decided we should try to watch a movie with Hana. I say "for some reason" because I'm not a huge fan of the TV. I believe that too much of it will rot the brain. But I will (begrudgingly) admit that sometimes it makes for a nice break and she actually learns a lot from the shows she is allowed to watch. I make it a point not to let the TV "babysit" her, but am very impressed that she now knows how to count to 10 in Spanish thanks to Dora. Dora has also taught her lots of Spanish words and phrases. When she wakes in the morning now she says, "Buenos dias, Momma! Good morning!" But, by far, one of the absolute most impressive things was when she was counting objects the other day and said, "Uno, dos, three, four, five..." So, I'm embracing this whole television thing a little more these days.
Anyhow, Hana has a friend who LOVES Nemo, so we decided maybe Nemo should be her first movie. If you read the "what she's saying" updates on the right side of my blog, then you've read that she requests the Nemo story be told to her nightly. Her daddy has a remarkable brain that forgets nothing, so his Nemo story is a play-by-play, where mine is much more the Cliffs Notes version. She lets me know that, too! "That wasn't very good, mommy. You forgot to say he lives in an anemone."
On another note, Joe and I have recently been bitten by the "musical theater bug." I promise all this will make sense in the end. Please bear with me! When we recently saw Beauty and the Beast, the theater was full of little girls dressed like Belle and it was at that point we decided Hana should join us for a Saturday afternoon show very soon. Shrek the musical is coming to town next month and Joe and I both love Shrek, but Hana has never seen it. So...
I have decided to make Joe's game nights (the Fridays he's out of the house for the evening), mine and Hana's movie nights. This past Friday marked the first of possibly many movie nights for us. After a busy day of playing, we finished dinner, kissed daddy goodbye, took a bath, got ready for bed and picked a movie. For the reason mentioned above, I picked Shrek. She has been given a Shrek watch as well as a Donkey watch by a couple of adults in our family who sometimes like to enjoy a McDonald's Happy Meal ~ don't we all? ;-)
So here it is, Hana's very first movie review:
I must also admit that once we got into it, I started to regret my movie decision. Although the "adult humor" in it is over her head ( I think), there were some things in there I was uncomfortable with her seeing and hearing, but soon realized that it's probably better than an afternoon with our family! Muwahahahahahahaha!

There is many classic movies out there if you can find them. The Shaggy dog,Nutty professor(flubber),Herbie the VW car,Beach blanket bingo and lots of stupid Jerry Lewis movies. All these I have mentioned are in black and white,so might be hard to find.Oh! ya'll might even like the Three Stooges. That's really stupid.Sometimes it's good to laugh and not have to think to much about what you are watching.Speaking of the three stooges, what has Joe,Josh and Brad been up to ? Relax, relax, just clowning the guys.
What did you say? A weekend with the family? HYighly entertaining!
