My Little Elf

The movie Elf, starring Will Ferrell, is one of my all-time favorites. If you haven't seen it, it's a must. Just like Christmas Vacation, I can't get through the holidays without watching it at least ten times. Who am I kidding? I'll also watch it any time of the year! It's just that good. Also, Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel sing the prettiest version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" in that movie. That version alone is what makes that particular song my favorite Christmas song. If you haven't seen it, you won't really get this entry; if you have seen it, then follow me closely.

Remember the scene where his father takes him to the doctor's office for a paternity test and he eats the cotton ball? His father sees him eat it and tells him not to do it again. In the next scene he's sitting in the waiting room talking to a little girl while holding a cotton ball on his finger where it was pricked. While conversing with her he very sneakily pops that cotton ball in his mouth and swallows it and looks at her like nothing happened. The look on his face is priceless. It's just so innocent and sweet!

That last cotton ball scene was just reenacted by our very own Hana Grace, except that it was bubbles in the bath tub rather than a cotton ball. I bought her some new soap that really bubbles up a lot. It bubbles up so much she ends up taking a bubble bath. Tonight was only the second time for us to use it and she really noticed the bubbles tonight. I was watching her discover them and play with them. She had a big handful and all of a sudden she put it all in her mouth, closed her mouth and looked at me like "What? I didn't do anything." She had that same exact look on her face.

Interesting bit of useless info: The actor who played Ralphie in A Christmas Story is one of the elves.

"Thanks, Mr. Narwhal!"
