I Can't Just Let Her Cry

So, it's about 11:30pm and I escaped to the office because we are attempting the "cry it out" method. Hana is screaming bloody murder. I cannot handle hearing her cry like that! Joe is being the tough one right now and is in there with her. He made me leave and told me to give it 5 minutes because her crying brings me to tears. Apparently our particular situation is common. I get a weekly update of Hana's growth and development from http://www.babycenter.com/ and one of the topics today was exactly this. "Why is my baby all of a sudden waking up at night?" Apparently this is extremely common around 6 months of age. Who knew? There are a lot of methods for fixing this, but supposedly the most effective is the "CIO" (cry it out) method. In this method you are supposed to let the baby cry but keep reassuring her you're there without picking her up. My instinct is to snatch her up and love on her and make it all better, but we've done that the past two nights and she just ended up in bed with us and that's just not healthy. I fed her cereal twice today as suggested and gave her Tylenol before her last feeding. I haven't used the Orajel yet, maybe I should try that - or whiskey as Ashley suggested. We don't keep whiskey in our house, will scotch or vodka work? (I'm kidding, Mom!) We'll see how this pans out...
