Celebration Picnic

Yesterday the family came up for a picnic to celebrate Mother's Day and May birthdays. We have quite a few birthdays this month. Geegaw had been orchestrating the event for several weeks and, believe it or not, he ended up coming down with a bug Friday and wasn't able to attend the festivities. We sure missed him. We were all really looking forward to everyone being able to get together since work schedules usually interfere with our gatherings. But it was best for him to stay home and heal. It's not even Hana's birthday but she received lots of presents (of course)! You can see a couple of her gifts here:

Those super cute sunglasses and that tutu. Precious. We all met at our house and carpooled over to the park. We lucked out and arrived just as a big party was leaving and they were kind enough to let us in on their upcoming departure so we were able to grab their awesome area.

It was very windy. Very windy. And a bit chilly, believe it or not. So Nana parked herself in the sun - and Hana parked herself right next to Nana.

We enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch, which we all contributed to, and then it was time for...

CAKE!

"Please! Can we open it please?!"
The guys couldn't quite figure out how to wear the birthday hats.

Whose birthdays were we celebrating?

Oh no! That didn't say my name did it? I have a birthday this month? How old will I be? Well, last year I declared that (starting this year) I was going to start going backwards, so I am proud to announce that I will be 27! Ahem.

The birthday party set up, complete with noisemakers, plates, napkins and candles, granted there weren't enough candles for even me - and I'm the youngest. Oh well. I may be upset about turning twenty seven this year, but I am very thankful that I have lived another year - and what a wonderful year it was! I do look forward to many, many more!

Here's Hana with a couple of the most important men in her life. Do you see how tightly they're wrapped around her little finger?
Aunt Angela went home for the weekend to spend Mother's Day with her family, so she wasn't able to be at the picnic. We sang Happy Birthday to her anyway and Hana blew out the candle for her. Hey! It was really windy!

Let them eat cake!

And we did!
What can I say? It was scrumdillyumptious! (Yes, I say was because a few of us finished it off later that night!) We found ways to burn it off though:
You know how I keep saying it was really windy? Well, here's the proof. We weren't even blowing the bubbles ourselves, the wind was doing it for us!
We even got to feed the ducks, birds and geese.

But then it was time to pack up so we could go home and play games!

Looks like someone was worn out.
We had SO MUCH FUN! It was almost a perfect weekend - the only thing missing was Geegaw!
