Valentine's 2011: A Day of Surprises

The plan was to make heart-shaped muffins for breakfast, but Joe wasn't in the mood for muffins, so this is what I came up with:
For Joe: Heart-shaped toast, a heart-shaped fried egg topped with habenero sauce and heart-shaped turkey sausage.
For Hana: Heart-shaped toast, heart-shaped scrambled egg topped with ketchup and heart-shaped turkey sausage.
Then it was time for her card and first gift of the day.
(FYI: She adores cards that sing and/or play music)
Once Daddy left for work, Hana and I got ready, went to the store, bought Joe some Valentine's goodies and then surprised him at work. She picked out the flowers; notice the basket is broken because she insisted on carrying the heavy thing in to him.
She also picked this awesome balloon that is not only huge, but also plays "I Got You Babe," which none of us can get out of our heads now because it is played (and danced t0) a gazillion times each day.
He was very surprised and I saw his eyes fill with tears as, once she spotted him on the other side of his bank's lobby, she ran towards him with the basket of flowers held over her shoulder, the balloon tied to them bobbing in the air and holding out a card she picked for him yelling "Daddy! Daddy! I got something for you!" It was definitely a Kodak moment, and I didn't have the Kodak. Boo!
Then he surprised me by showing up to take me to lunch and brought me these beautiful roses.
Upon seeing my flowers, Hana wanted to know if they were for her and when told no, she wanted to know where hers were. So Joe, being the wonderful daddy that he is, brought her her very own bouquet when he came home from work later that evening. Hers were super special too.
The picture above were taken the day after. They were originally just buds and he taught her if she put them in water she could watch them bloom.
She loves them. Was there ever any doubt? She also got this monkey balloon
and a lady bug-shaped chocolate sucker, not to mention the other small gifts she got to find and open throughout the day. They were small, fun and even some useful gifts like lip gloss, eye shadow, sparkly blush, a shirt, shoes and a couple of books. Most of the items were purchased from...wait for it...can you guess?...THE $1 SECTION AT TARGET! You know me!
Aunt Bicky (I suppose I should really start working on Victoria rather than Bicky, huh?) brought her over a gift the following night which was an adorable outfit I had already been eyeballing to get her as well as a card that sings "You Are My Sunshine." She loves them both, especially the card. I don't think Victoria knew at the time, but "You Are My Sunshine" is a song that Hana and I treasure.
