She was such a good girl and sat quietly and watched intently throughout the entire show. She is now totally and completely obsessed with the Grinch. We watched the movie a couple times before we went so she would know the story and what was going on. I think we might have found our very own Cindy Lou Who! She says she would love to be on stage singing and dancing just like her!
I knew she would want a stuffed animal or something, so I thought ahead and we stopped at Kohl's on our way. I remembered they currently have Grinch dolls (among others). Being frugal, there was no way I wanted to spend the $30 or $40 they were probably going to charge for the souvenirs. Five dollars (which goes to the Kohl's Cares charity) later we had a big furry Grinch hidden in a bag in the car. We arrived at the theater, parked and Joe got Hana out of her seat and heading to the back of the car while I secretly placed the Grinch in her car seat.
It was perfect. After the show she really wanted to talk to the Grinch because she was convinced he was going to give her a surprise. I have no idea why she thought that. Seriously. But as we were heading out, a couple of the Whos went running through the crowd and up some stairs. I pointed them out to Hana and asked her if she thought the Grinch was running around somewhere and what in the world could they all be doing? I have no idea what they were doing, but it really was perfect. As we neared the car she grew a little more upset that she never got to talk to the Grinch and he never got to give her a surprise. Little did she know what was waiting for her in her seat.
She truly believes the Grinch snuck out to our car and put the "little Grinch" in her seat because he needed a place to live and because he saw what a well-behaved little girl she was in the audience. "The little Grinch" needs his very own Cindy Lou Who and Hana eagerly filled those shoes. So now I spend all day making the Grinch talk. He sleeps with her, eats with her and even uses the potty and gets bathed (pretend, of course!).
On the way home we stopped at one of our favorite restaurants which is located in a shopping center. A local radio station was setting up a booth as we parked, and as we were eating I looked out the window at the grassy area next to the parking lot and read what I could see of a sign, "IVE REINDEER." Joe confirmed, "Live reindeer." What in the world? After we ate and did a tiny bit of shopping we headed over to see what was going on and it was, in deed, live reindeer. Hana and I decided it was Dancer and Prancer.
