Oink! Oink!

Out with the old.
In with the new.
The new piggy is difficult to photograph because you can "see yourself in it" as Hana would say.
The light reflects of it it.
I have taken lots of photos of the old piggy bank recently. I get too attached to inanimate objects, but have learned through the years that I cannot hold on to everything, so I just take lots of pictures. I just might be the opposite of a hoarder. I'm a purger. I think it feels great to get rid of stuff! That said, I hate that we're going to have to break this little piggy open. To be honest, I bet there's somewhere around $300 inside. I'm curious to find out the exact amount. I will say that it is incredibly heavy. But, as with all things in life, all good things must come to an end, even if they didn't last for long. We have to get the money out somehow and it's not coming out the hole it's supposed to! I do find it very curious that the half dollars fit in the slot but will not come out the hole. Hmm...
It's good that Hana's at the age where she's not upset about the loss of the old piggy. Actually, I don't know if it's her age or just her personality. She's a very matter-of-fact little girl whom I can reason with at the mere age of two. There's no beating around the bush with her, she handles things better when you're up front and honest with her. I originally planned to replace the pig with an identical one so she would never know the difference. Then I decided to instead take her to the store with me to pick out a new one. Good thing, because they had been clearanced and there wasn't one left like the one she had. I was really rooting for a white one with all different colored polka dots on it, but Hana picked the dark pink one she could see herself in. That seemed to be the selling point on it.
We brought it home and she carried it to the spot where the old one was sitting and said, "Momma, would you move this one please? It's full. The new one needs to sit there." Obviously she comprehends, which blows me away. I haven't told her we're going to smash the old piggy to smithereens. I think she would get too much pleasure out of the destruction and want to smash the new one along with anything else she could smash. I'm sure I have some anger deep down in me somewhere (no, not me!) that I could take out on the poor little piggy.
So, bye-bye little piggy. It was a good yet quick time we all had together. We will always remember you. What an awesome gift you were for Hana's 2010 Valentine's Day from Aunt Bicky that she apparently just bought on a whim not knowing what a wonderful thing she was creating. Now every time a stranger drops change on the floor Hana runs toward it yelling, "Piggy food!" LOL And every time Daddy comes home from work Hana asks, "Did you bring me money?"

They don't make bigger banks. We should do something about that.
