Many More Milestones

Lately we've experienced many more milestones - okay, they may not be by-the-book milestones, but I consider them to be nonetheless.

Thursday: Hana woke up from her nap crying "Mommy, doodoo! I doodoo!" And, yes, she had pooped in her diaper. There are a few of milestones here. 1) Pooping disturbed her sleep whereas she used to just sleep right through it, so she definitely knows the "poop sensation." 2) She was very upset about it and did not want the poop in her diaper. 3) She let me know ASAP.

Friday: At the play date this past Friday I took Hana to the bathroom and as soon as I sat her down she used the potty at someone else's house!

Saturday: We were getting ready to go garage sale-ing (I'll show you our treasure in a later post) and Hana's Daddy got her all dressed and she grabbed her (matching) hair bow and handed it to me saying "Mommy! Mommy!" as she nudged her head towards me asking me to put it in her hair. Joe does not truly consider this to be a milestone, but I do indeed!

Recently: I know I blogged a while back about Hana's switch that's been turned on. The one that took away her baby-ness. In that post I brought up how she's beginning to make small sentences. You can go ahead and scratch "beginning." The kid is speaking in sentences now. Just like I mentioned above, "Mommy, I doodoo (or teetee)!" A few other commoners include "I sit down", "Shhh! Dori night night", "Go play upstairs",and "I go outside", just to name a few.

Lately: I would say over the past week, maybe two, Hana has begun to master multiple-syllable words such as calendar, helicopter, caterpillar and - ahem - hippopotamus. Need I remind you that she's only 20 months old?!

Lately she also must take a doll with her wherever we go, she's partial to a few, but not only one in particular. Babies are now going with us when we go grocery shopping, to play dates, sitting on the potty (in her lap) and while we eat (in the highchair with her).

Also, I know I blogged earlier this week about how Hana told her Daddy, "This Mommy" while pointing to me and "This Hana" while pointing to herself. Well, now just about every time you ask her her name (once she's over pretending to be shy) she'll tell you! For example: You ask her "What's your name?" and she'll reply "Hana!"

On that same note, and she's actually been doing this one for a little while now, she has also started introducing us to people. For instance at the baptism reception last night, while pointing to her Daddy and me she told several people "My Mommy!" and "My Daddy!"

Another first happened last weekend at Hana's friend Jayani's first birthday party. She started referring to some of her friends by their names. She clearly says Maddy and Isaac, but for some reason Luke's name is Lukey. Charles is really hit or miss at this point. She definitely knows his name, knows who he is and loves him to death, but most of the time his name sounds like "clock." I guess I should throw in that I did not even ask her to say their names. She handed something to Maddy and said "Here, Maddy!" Then a little later as Luke and Isaac showed up she exclaimed "Lukey! Isaac!"

And let's not forget about the "My" milestone. Everything and I mean everything is apparently hers now and she will not let you forget it. LOL

Whew! I guess that concludes this Many More Milestones post. I'm sure there are many more where those came from!
