Who Needs Swim Lessons?

First of all, does this make us white trash? =)

It probably helps that we have a kid now, but does it make the white trashiness worse if I tell you we bought this pool years ago before Hana was ever even thought of? LOL! Yes, the first summer after we moved into our very first home, we missed the pool at our old apartments (and didn't have a community pool) so much that we went out and bought this (along with lots of beer and booze) and spent a lot of time in it.

These days we do have a very nice HOA pool, but it's crazy busy with kids. We'll make it down there eventually, I'll probably take Hana Grace during the week and early in the morning right when it opens so that hopefully there won't be too many people there. She's just getting comfortable in the water, although yesterday in our little pool she showed no fear!

She even blew bubbles in the water with her mouth and did her best to put her head under the water! At one point she was completely submersed by accident. She was climbing on her Daddy's back while he was laying on his belly in the water. He moved, she flipped and fell and landed under water. I freaked, or no, I FREAKED, but she was fine. If it weren't for my poor reaction, she probably would not have cared, but I panicked, causing her to as well. The panicking came to an abrupt end when she immediately put her head back in the water! That's my girl.

Most of our friends have or have had their kids in swimming lessons and I just think it's a waste of money. Growing up on a lake, I never had swim lessons, I was just thrown in and had to figure it out...*wink wink*. I think Josh drove the Pup (my Dad's old standard truck) down to the lake with me sitting on the tailgate when he was about 12, making me 6. No joke! LOL! We would swim all day long, no life jackets, no lifeguard. Just us and the buoy, which I truly believed was the drain to the lake and we would try to swim out to it and "pull the drain" to drain the lake. Joe grew up in the same way basically, no swim lessons for him either. We were told by some friends that swim lessons are really helpful because it's so difficult to get a kid to put their head under the water. Well, not ours! Not yet anyway. We're going to try to teach our kids to swim just like our parents taught us. Who needs swim lessons?! For now anyway...

We had so much fun in the water yesterday that we just had to get back in the water today, and Hana had to practice swimming some more!

Hana Grace has no fear!! You are such good parents, you can teach her to swim! She's already paddling! No, you are not white trash, just a citified zoner!

Well, from one Zoner to another. She does not need swimming lessons. She seems to be doing fine.
The pool looks so refreshing. She will be swimming in no time. You are certainly not whitetrash, just replaced zoners. Even Joe has zoner traits. lol

Same pool you just replaced lots of beer and booze with lots of Hana time.Poor Hana, does that make her 1/2 Irish and 1/2 zoner ? So, she's ZONISH ? You can take the girl out of the zone but you can't take the zone out of the girl. And she has only 1/2 of creek mud between her toes. Drive on ya'll.
