Well, it was technically her first hair cut, but we didn't cut much. She just had some very random, very long wispy bangs that kept getting in her eyes. I had been begging Joe to trim them forever now, but he wanted to wait until she had enough hair for a true haircut, so we would have enough hair to save. I guess he finally realized it was getting on her nerves more than mine! Well, it's not a lock of hair or anything, but I was able to save it and tape it to a piece of paper. We'll still save her "true" first hair cut.
He was bathing her last night and called me in there and told me to get the scissors. I was so excited! I held her head while he chopped away. Hana's daddy, the hairstylist!
What a difference! I don't have to keep her bangs swept to the side now so she can see!
I also bought a nice little table yesterday to sit where the doggy used to lay. It hurt to put it there, but at least it looks pretty so that way when I look that direction I am pleased. Every time I round the corner I look that way. I guess I never really realized what a habit I had. I just always made eye contact with her whenever I entered the room. I would blow her a kiss or tell her hi, just to make sure she knew how much I love her. This pic was taken yesterday, today I have put a picture of Joe with Pagan and Guthrie on the bottom shelf. It's in a cute little frame that says, "A house isn't a home without a dog." Man, that phrase takes on a whole new meaning now.
I am still on the lookout for the perfect plant to mix Pagan's ashes with. No, we haven't received her ashes back yet (it takes a week or two), and I have no idea when I'll be ready to mix them, if I ever am. I haven't a clue how long it will take me to get the nerve to look inside, or if I ever will. I just don't know if I'm okay having a box of her ashes sitting around. (What if Hana got into it somehow???) We'll just have to wait and see what I decide to do. Only time will tell. Until then, I think my birthday orchid looks swell there. I don't want to create a shrine or anything, just something pretty that makes me happy.
