Are We In California?

Yesterday the sky was glowing orange and the air was filled with smoke. We sat outside yesterday evening and Joe thought it was nice because it smelled like our neighbors were burning leaves - like down at the lake. Seriously though, these fires are out of control. The footage on the news looks like California does most of the time: everything's burning. I told you guys I thought we moved to the windy city. What is up with the wind?

On another note, Dian informed me yesterday and I got an email from Ashley this morning stating that her situation is worse than I had originally thought. I don't think she minds me saying, Dian has blogged about it as well. They thought Ashley had chronic sinusitis until she suffered a seizure a few weeks back. Since then they have discovered her sinuses have a hole in them in the back of her head and her brain is falling through that hole. They also think she may have suffered some brain damage/memory loss from the seizure. Her email informed me that she will undergo brain surgery in a few weeks. Everyone, please keep her and her family in your prayers. Our family ended last year on the wrong foot. We somehow stumbled into the new year and until now, we seemed to have gotten a grasp on our footing. Hopefully this will turn out to be a small misstep and Ashley will have her surgery and things will be back to normal in no time, God willing. Once again, please keep her in your prayers.

Now on a happier note, stay tuned for "A Day In My Life" by Hana Grace...she's taking pictures and writing notes on her day's events today in order to share them in an entry titled "A Day In My Life." The day's not over until bed time, so I'll take her notes and pics and publish it all to the blog once she's fast asleep. Aren't I a good Mommy to help her out like that? =)
