We loaded up Saturday morning and headed to a small town called Vernon to attend the wedding of a family friend.
Having a snack in the car headed to Vernon:
Daddy driving:
Time to rock out to the Beastie Boys. "Listen all y'all it's a sabotage!"
Too much rockin' out:
We arrived at our hotel right at check-in time, but my parents had already checked us in. Hana, Joe and I were starving so Hana stayed with her grandparents while Joe and I went to grab a bite to eat. Hana had a Gerber meal.
We first walked into the place next door, Taco Casa. The sign outside said it was voted "Best Place to Eat in Vernon." We thought that might be because it was so good, I think it was only because there's not much else to choose from! We walked in, looked around, smelled around, and Joe whispered to me "Go. Go. We're not eating here." We drove around a bit more and ended up at Grandy's. It was alright. Not bad at all. We also stopped at Braums and brought us all ice cream back to the room. We saw these strange birds in the drive-thru at Braums. Before I got my camera out, the big one was on top of the little one and then a third one came along. I think they were fighting, Joe thought something else...
Once we finished our ice cream and Hana played a bit,
it was time to start getting ready and then head on over to the wedding. It was a very nice wedding. Small and simple, kind of like ours was.
Those are always my favorite weddings to attend because you know the people are truly in love and both of the families seemed to get along so well. I saw the look of true happiness in their eyes, and I love that look! Kenny (the bride's father) shook things up when he cocked his shotgun in the middle of the ceremony. No one knew what to think, maybe he'd lost his mind? It was all in good fun though. He'll do anything for a laugh. Just like the fireworks he set off as the bride and groom drove away at the end of the night. LOL We had a great time and pushed Hana to her limit. She never fussed but she got so sleepy! We left there around 10:00 and headed back to the hotel for the night. We watched some TV in Gramps and Ninny's room but Hana would not fall asleep. She doesn't get fussy when she's overly tired, she gets wild! We headed back to our room around 11:00 and I finally got Hana Grace to fall asleep around 11:30 or so. We enjoyed our continental breakfast the next morning and headed on in to Chillicothe to visit with Kenny, Dolores and some others.
From there it was homeward bound. Along the way we got to see mountains (LOL)
and even where some of the fires were.
We stopped and took pictures in the bluebonnets,
checked out Knife Town USA,
and then got lost in Decatur. We zoned out, missed our exit and took a few detours to get back on track. I was impressed with Decatur's court house. It's the prettiest one I've ever seen! (What is this family's obsession with court houses?)
It seemed to take twice as long to get home as it took to get there.
Rockin' out to Kid Rock:
We were so hungry and so tired! Hana Grace was fed up with her little snack and wanted some real food and she made sure to make her point!
She was such a good little girl though. She did not fuss the whole way there and only began to fuss at the very end of the journey home. She is a real trooper. We had a great time, we just wish it would have lasted longer!
