Wallflowers

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I was looking to liven up Hana Grace's bedroom. I had worked really hard on her old room and now her new bedroom seemed really dull. I figured I should go with a flower theme since she is our little flower girl. H-A-N-A means "flower" or "blossom" in Japanese. Her Daddy's degree is in Japanese Business so he studied the language and the culture for many years and he speaks the language fluently - or he did, he doesn't get to use it much anymore. But that's okay, he knows plenty of other languages! LOL Anyway, that's where her name comes from, in case you didn't know. Also, I wanted to decorate a "big girl" room rather than another baby room since, after all, she's not really a baby anymore. So I found these things called Wallflowers and they are basically wallpaper cutouts in the shapes of flowers. I decided to apply them as kind of a border on two opposite walls of her room (the plain walls). It's not too much, but I think it definitely adds a nice touch - a bit of personality.

There were also two GIGANTIC flowers that came in the package that just seemed out of place in her bedroom so I decided to put them in her playroom. This led to me finally finding a home for this cool light I bought at Ikea months ago. It's a flower that lights up and the cord is green so that when it goes down the wall it looks like a stem. Sounds like a good idea in theory, but it didn't look so hot just hanging on a white wall by itself, so I found a way to hide most of the cord. What do you think? (the light is the small pink flower directly above the shelf) Like Hana's new shelves? Luckily her Daddy was able to attach them to a stud in the wall because she has already tried to climb them a few times! Her playroom is really coming together now. It no longer looks like a big empty room where we keep all the toys, now it actually looks like a playroom!
The only thing is the big wallflowers did not adhere to the wall well. I actually had to use this tacky stuff to help hold them in place for now. I need to go get some wallpaper paste and see if that will do the job. I hope it does because I love the way it looks! I decided that if we have a little boy next, I'll add some bugs or frogs or something else boyish to go with the girly flowers.
