Okay, so instead of "Spidey Senses" (you know, from Spider Man), I think I have "Mommy Senses". This is going to sound weird, but I wanted to blog about it to see if anyone else may have ever experienced such things. I know it's perfectly natural for motherhood to kick in and every grunt your baby makes wakes you or startles you. But is it normal for me to sleep through Joe's alarm clock EVERY SINGLE MORNING even when Wayne says it wakes him from all the way upstairs? I never have any idea his alarm is going off, but if Hana so much as whimpers in her sleep I am wide awake. I'm not talking about a full-blown cry either. She can sneeze, toot, laugh, or mumble some barely audible baby talk and I am wide awake turning the screen on the monitor on to see what she's doing.
I know you're all probably saying to yourselves that what I just mentioned is perfectly normal and happens to every mom and it will never go away. But here's something even more strange that's been happening recently. I have blown it off until now because I just had a major incident...I can smell when Hana poops. Big deal you say? I can smell her poop NO MATTER WHERE SHE IS! Crazy? Maybe, but it still happens. Just now I was down here in the office doing some things on the computer when I was overwhelmed by the smell of poop. I automatically knew Hana must have pooped. Where was Hana? Upstairs in her playroom. I went and checked out the situation and sure enough, she had a poopy diaper. This isn't the only occurrence. This happens all the time! I had always had a weird feeling when I "just knew" she had pooped, but she's usually in the same room or very close by so I just assumed it was because I have a very sensitive nose. But to be able to "smell" it all the way downstairs when no one else can?! It's my Mommy Senses! And, yes, I say no one else can because I've asked others. "Can you smell poop?" I'll ask. And the answer is always no. But I can, and it's there....FREAKY!

Welcome to the wonderful world of "mommy hood" it is great. Sometimes even now I can be thinking of Jennifer and she will call just to check on me. I can do it with Brad too. It is a little freaky, but being a mommy is the best thing in the world.
