Weight: 23.3 lbs = 75-90% (big range, huh?)
Height: 31 inches = over 97%
Head: 19 inches = over 97%
Once again, we got all A+'s! Today Hana Grace received 3 shots and, as always, she took them like a champ! One of the shots was her MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) which, I believe, is the one that allegedly can cause autism. I'm pro vaccines myself, but it still makes me nervous. I believe they are for our own good and the last I heard it has been scientifically proven that vaccines do not cause autism. But as a Mom, I will always worry about what goes in and comes out of my precious girl. Also, 1 in 20 kids get a rash from this particular vaccine, so I'm supposed to be on the lookout in the next week or two for anything unusual. She was supposed to get her chicken pox vaccine today, but there's a shortage. There is always a shortage of something, isn't there? We'll get that one next time.
All in all it was a great visit. Hana is ahead of the game! Dr. Nail says it's obvious she's holding on to furniture and cruising because she's not gaining much weight. Cruising? Please! That's for babies! LOL I informed him that our little girl has been doing nothing but walking for the past 2 months. He then corrected himself and from there on out he referred to her as a TODDLER!!! (I'll finish typing while wiping away tears)
He also confirmed something that we had all thought to be true, I just needed a professional to confirm it...she's brilliant! I've been saying it all along, haven't I? Well, today it was confirmed. Dr. Nail says, "Miss Hana probably has one or two words she's using regularly now, huh? What might they be?" I had to have looked stunned because he gave me a funny look. I thought to myself. "One or two words? Is that all she's supposed to be saying right now?" I hesitantly replied, "It's more like at least ten." He seemed a little surprised by my response and then said, "She has the vocabulary development of an 18-month old!" Like I said, I've always thought she was bright, but it really means something when a doctor tells you your child is bright. And yes, I do realize that this does not mean she's the next Albert Einstein. I know that children all develop at different rates and just because she's ahead of the game now doesn't mean she will always be. More than likely she will begin to plateau and others will catch up to her and some will even pass her up, but for now (and always in my opinion) she's brilliant! I thought I would share with you Hana's extensive vocabulary:
1. Nana (her 1st word)
2. Bye-Bye (she says while waving bye)
3. Baby (she sings "ba-by" while she rocks herself. she also exclaims "baby" when she sees another one whether it be in person or in a magazine or book, etc.)
4. Puppy (she calls Pagan and Guthrie puppy)
5. Hi (she says when she sees you and sometimes says it while waving)
6. Uh-Oh (she says when she drops something or falls down)
7. Bite (when she wants more food)
8. Mama/Mommy
9. Dada/Daddy or more commonly just Da
10. Paw Paw (Wayne)
11. No (she says ALL THE TIME)
12. Thank You (she says when you hand her something or when she hands you something)
13. Hello (she says when she's "talking on the phone")
14. Night Night (she says when it's bed time)
Those are her regulars (and I'm probably forgetting some). Every now and then she spits something out but never says it again, like the other day as I was singing "Hey Diddle Diddle" she said "diddle."
Another thing she did during the visit that surprised Dr. Nail was point to the bunny painted on the wall when he said bunny. Here's the story: When we were waiting for him to come into the room I was showing her the bunnies that were painted on the wall. Later, when Dr. Nail needed to look in her ear he told her to look at the bunnies and she pointed to the bunnies on the wall! I'll say it again - BRILLIANT!!!
