September 11th

It's weird how yesterday was full of such happy memories and today is full of sad ones. When we decided to get married on September 10th, our wedding photographer mentioned how that was a great date. "It's the day before the world changed," he said. I liked that. I'm young enough that the important dates in history don't affect my emotions much because I wasn't alive to witness any of it. I have always loved history and love hearing stories about what my parents and grandparents have experienced. It always amazed me that they seem to remember exactly what they were doing when JFK was shot. Well, I remember exactly what I was doing when the terrorists attacked. I was sitting in Mr. Rush's lit class at the Court Reporting Institute of Dallas. Brenda, late for class as always, walked in and informed us of what was going on. Mr. Rush never skipped a beat of his dictation. We all just kept on writing as if she hadn't said a word. Then Mr. Juhlin came over the speaker and announced the US was under attack. What a strange feeling. The US was under attack? We continued on with our day and in between classes we tuned in on the radio, sharing headphones, to see what was going on. I remember being scared on my drive home. I remember the eerie feeling looking up in the sky and not seeing a single plane headed to or from DFW Airport. It seems like just yesterday. I remember the horrible guilt I felt when so much blood was needed and I'm such a wuss I didn't want to donate. I also remember the weight that was lifted from my shoulders when I finally talked myself in donating and was told they weren't accepting anymore, they had too much. LOL

Okay, now on to more cheerful subjects. Joe and I had a wonderful anniversary yesterday. Hana's Aunt Victoria babysat her for the very first time while we went out to dinner. Hana was okay for her, she's cutting another tooth, so she was fussy all day yesterday and even a bit fussy for her Aunt. Regardless, Joe and I had a blast. We had a delicious meal and I had lots of wine and slept like a baby last night! Thank you to everyone who sent their warm wishes to us. We really appreciate that. It's easy to have a happy marriage when you've married your best friend. I have Mom and Dad to thank for that guidance! TTFN!

I remember exactly what I was doing when JFK was shot...I was in Mrs. Underwood's 6th grade class at C.B. Berry Elementary in Arlington, Texas. The principal, Mr. Morton, came over the intercom and announced that the President had been shot in Dallas. We were dismissed to go home...I remember how sad it was to see John Jr. salute his father's coffin....and I will never forget where I was on 9/11...at work at Texas Trust CU...me and our police officer for that morning, Bill Carlow, watched the news unravel on television in our breakroom...I was shocked that the Dallas Morning News only had a small article on the right corner of the front page today...We must never forget that day!!The editor is probably a damn Democrat and thinks a big story would take votes away from Osama Obama....and Ben Laden....Roll On America!! I support our servicemen that fight to provide the people of America with freedom, including the Marine that I have been married to for 37 years!!God Bless America, the innocent people that lost their lives, and my Marine, whom I love dearly!! I love my country and my freedom!!
